Steve's Tip for Protecting your Expensive Switch Gear

Your switch gear is always vulnerable when off road riding and it's expensive to replace.

To protect it, simply remove the molding from your handle bar and reroute it to another part of your bike. My favourite place is behind the radiators under the scopes. Obviously you need the room and enough length on the wiring loom, but this is not an issue for most bikes. Make sure you can still get full lock on your steering in both directions without tensioning the wiring loom. You also need to be able to get to the switches! Simply clamp the molding to a suitable frame fixing or add a bracket from an old length of handlebar. Simple and effective!

Remember though to keep your engine cut off switch mounted on you bar for immediate access. If this is built into your switch housing, you can get a stand alone aftermarket switch from most retailers.

This left hand switch gear has been routed onto the radiator hose by the tank and can be accessed whilst riding the bike.
